George Smith

CORBIN —

Mr. George Herman Smith, age 77, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at his home.

George entered into this life on Aug. 12, 1935 in Clay County, the son of Roy and Martha Mae Mills Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. George bravely served his country in the United States Army and later operated a grocery store. He was united in marriage to Merle Ruth Jones on May 29, 1963 and they shared 50 wonderful years together. He was a member of the Lynn Camp Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Merle Smith, of Corbin; three sons: Jeffrey Smith (Mary), of Corbin, Kevin Smith (Joyce), of Corbin, and Mark Smith (Kathy), of Mount Sterling; six grandchildren: Joshua Smith, Travis Smith, Alex Burgan, Cameron Smith, Katelyn Smith and Aric Smith; and his sister: Christine Smith and a host of friends and neighbors.

Funeral services for Mr. George Smith will be conducted on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home with Pastors Eddie Barker and Justin Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Trevor Browning, Sam Miller, Jerry Mills, Jamie Mills, Tal Jones, Shane Adkins, Landry Collett and James Burns.

Friends may call on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. George Smith can be made to the Lynn Camp Baptist Church.
