Hester Smith

CORBIN — Mrs. Hester Mae Brock Smith, age 64, of Woolum, was born in Knox County, on June 28, 1949, to the late Steven and Minnie Mills Brock and departed this life on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Baptist Health Corbin. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, her husband: J C Smith; three brothers: Kenneth Brock, Jim Brock and Chris Brock; three sisters: Bertha Hicks, Lucille Smith and Marie Marginson; a brother-in-law: Russell Marginson; a niece: Barbara Jean Smith; and a nephew: Max Dale Brock preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving children: Donald Smith and wife Patricia, of Heidrick, and Jessie Smith and wife Lila, of Horn Branch; a sister: Edna Hicks, of Whites Branch; two grandsons: Austin Smith and Travis Smith; 11 nieces: Rosemary Broughton, Lou Ann Smith Disney, Lisa Smith, Minnie Lou Brock, Tina Brock, Charlene Hicks, Tobie Hicks, Sudie Marginson, Diane Marginson, Susan Brock and Connie Brock; seven nephews: Arvin Lee Smith, Jerry Smith, Victor Brock, Marlo Brock, Charloes Ed Hicks, Anderson Hicks, Jr. and Lonnie Hicks; and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hester Smith will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mann Cobb, officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery with James Broughton, Marlo Brock, Victor Brock, Frank Disney, Joe Hughs and David Garrison serving as pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 9 a.m. to the funeral hour at 1 p.m.
