Thomas Rose Jr.

CORBIN — Thomas Rose Jr., 80, of Corbin, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, in the Corbin Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was a son of the late Thomas and Flossie Taulbee Rose, born to them on April 8, 1933, in Campton. Thomas was a retired steel mill crane operator where he worked for more than 35 years; a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church in Corbin; a member of the Cumberland  Valley Masonic Lodge No. 751 F. & A. M. of Gray; and a Past Master of the South Lyon Masonic Lodge No. 319 F. & A. M. of South Lyon, Michigan.    

On Feb. 12, 1955, he united in marriage to Ernestine Jones, and to this union were born two sons: Thomas Wayne and Terry Glenn.    

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers: Willard Rose, Sammy Rose, Hurgal Rose and Ray Rose; and by one sister: Daisy Waters; and his three sisters-in-law: Thelma Rose, Velma Rose and Jewel Rose; and by his three brothers-in-law: Roy Burton, Paul Waters and Albert Rose.    

Thomas is survived by his loving family: his loving wife of more than 58 years: Ernestine Jones Rose, of Corbin.  His two sons: Thomas Wayne Rose and wife, Patricia, of Brighton, Mich.; and Terry Glenn Rose, of Chicago, Ill. His two grandchildren: Christina Rose and Justin Rose. His great- granddaughter: Mya Hock. His brother: L.G. Rose and wife, Heneretta, of Corbin. His two sisters: Mavis Burton, of Campton; and Carrie Lee Rose, of South Lyon, Mich. His sister-in-law: Donna Rose, of Florida. A host of nieces and nephews; and many other loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and other relatives, and dear friends to mourn his passing.    

The funeral for Thomas Rose Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester and Rev. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.  Those serving as Pallbearers will be Greg Rose, Greg Fisher, Jimmy Smith, John Begley, Roy Burton, Jr., and Keenan Jones.  Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Good Hope Baptist Church Family.    

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.    

The Rose family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Hopper Funeral Home and after 10 a.m.  Wednesday until the funeral hour.    

There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home conducted by the Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge No. No. 751 F. & A. M. of Gray.    

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the  Good Hope Baptist Church in Corbin; Tri-County Hospice; or  Hospice of the Bluegrass, in loving Memory of Thomas Rose Jr.
