Virginia Mayne


Virginia Mayne, 89, of Flatwoods, passed away on Feb. 26, 2013.

She was born March 9, 1923, at Rockholds, and was the second child of Arthur and Myrtle Powell Davis. In 1942, she and Arloe Mayne were married. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Fred Mayne and a grandson, Michael Mayne.

She is survived by sons, Arloe Wesley Mayne Jr. and wife Linda, of Huntsville, Ala., Leroy Mayne and wife Annette, of Charlotte, N.C., and Larry Mayne, of Huntington, W.Va. She is also survived by grandchildren, Arloe Wesley Mayne III, Daniel Mayne, Amy Clark, Stephanie Paponetti, Nichole Jones and Jennifer Crotts, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland and had recently been a resident of Trinity Station in Flatwoods.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel with Minister J.R. Gullett officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.
