Donnell Day, 73, of Keavy, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the St. Joe East Hospital in Lexington. He was the husband of Sarah E. (Begley) Day whom he married on January 14, 1957.
Donnell was born in Pauls Creek, in Leslie County, on Oct. 28, 1940. He was a son to the late Floyd and Martha (Sizemore) Day. He worked in car sales and as a mechanic. He was a member of the Dorthae Pentecostal Church.
Donnell is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 57 years, Sarah E. Day, of Keavy; dughter, Carolyn Sue and her husband Mark Sweet, of Richmond; son, Donnie Floyd Day and his wife Charlotte, of Keavy; son, Ricky Claude Day, of Keavy; brother, Billy Ray Day, of Pauls Creek; adopted sister, Mable Ruth Martin, of Mason, Ohio; five grandchildren: Shannon Storm, Micah Hammack, Alex Sweet, Rebecca Sweet and Kassandra Day; and three great-grandchildren: Summer Storm, Sage Storm and L.J. Hammack.
In addition to his parents, Donnell was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ann Day; brothers, Thomas, Jimmy, Jerry and Homer Day; sisters, Judy Lewis, Leona Eaton and Laura Hogg.
Pallbearers: Homer Lee Day, Benny Day and Micah Hammack, Alex Sweet, William Dugger, David Lanham, James Mosley and Robert Reed
Funeral services will be noon Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Dorthae Pentecostal Church located at 2381 N. Hwy 1223 in Corbin.
Officiating will be Bro. Johnny Day, Bro. Glen Martin and Bro. Paul Baker.
Place of burial: Locust Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at the Dorthae Pentecostal Church.
