Ethel Hembree, of Redwood Lane Corbin, departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at The Heritage, Corbin. She was 98 years, 6 months and 6 days of age. She was born on May 1, 1915 in Harlan County to the late Levi and Jane Greene.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hembree; one daughter, Betty Jo Ingram; one grandchild, Michael Ray Williams; two brothers, George Greene and Vernon Greene; and one sister, Abby Brooks.
She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ingram.
She is survived by five children, Shirley Williams (husband Bill), of Corbin, L.V. Hembree (wife Ruth), of Hamilton, Ohio, Jerry D. Hembree, of Corbin, Wilma Jane Benge (husband Arnold), of New Tazewell, Tenn., and Billie Ann Gladden (husband Samuel), of Hamilton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one great-great- great granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be after noon Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 until the funeral hour at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darvin Wells officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Croley Addition Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg.
