Oleita Sweet


TIMES TRIBUNE (CORBIN, Ky.)

CORBIN — Oleita Joy Sweet,  64,  of Corbin,  passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at her home.

Born in Laurel County, she was the daughter of the late   Robert  and  Lorella Wingfield Sweet. She was the owner of the former   Joy’s  Kountry  Kookin’ Restaurant in Corbin. She also devoted over 18 years of service to the Whitley County Library with the Bookmobile.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son,  Kevin Russell Brown; her brother, Roy Sweet; and grandmother, Myrtle “Mammie” Richmond.

She is survived by two sons:  Buck Hinkle  and  Nancy Wagner, of Corbin, and Brian Hinkle  and  wife Rebecca,  of  Newcomb, Tenn.; grandchildren, Justin Hinkle of Newcomb, Tenn.; Audrey and Austin Browen; Meghan Jones and Jordan Wagner; sister, Jean Foster,  of Indiana;  brothers,  Bob Sweet and Mickey Sweet,  of Williamsburg; and special friend,  Martha Hinkle, of Corbin.

The funeral will be  at 2 p.m. Sunday,  Sept. 22,  at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home  with Rev. Doyle Lester  and Rev. Randy Bargo  officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the funeral home.
