Etta Gibson

CORBIN —

Etta Mae Gibson, of Cumberland Falls Hwy., Corbin, departed this life on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Baptist Health in Corbin. She was 73 years and 6 days of age. She was born on Feb. 9, 1940, in Whitley County, to the late Henry Vanderpool and Nora Meadors Vanderpool. She is also preceded in death by her husbands, Bob Gibson and Eugene Johnson; and daughter, Beverly Karen Knight.

She is survived by daughter, Melinda Gail Bennett (Carl), of Williamsburg; two sons, Robert Terry Gibson (Lisa) and Jamie Mark Gibson, all of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Kyle Knight, Justin Knight, Chasity Bennett, Shawn Bennett, Alecia Eversole, Robert Joe Gibson, Kara Gibson and Benjamin Gibson; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Garnet Johnson, of Corbin, and Beulah White, of Williamsburg; brother, Jack Vanderpool, of Michigan; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kyle Knight officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Canadatown Cemetery.
