Miss Dottie, as she was fondly called, worked in the cafeteria at Oak Grove School for many years. To honor her, the Times-Tribune published a feature story in 2002 which portrayed the life of this wonderful, well loved lady. According to the Times-Tribune, the cafeteria, named Dottie’s Diner for her love of children and years of dedication, was more than just a munching ground. Besides lending a helping hand, Miss Dottie supervised nearly 700 children students at Oak Grove during breakfast and lunch hours. Endured by all who knew her, she will be sadly missed.
Miss Dottie’s funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Hodge and the Rev. John F. Laws officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Richard Reynolds, Robert Reynolds, Tony Barton, Curt Dugger, Leon Barton and Jerry Allen.
The family of “Miss Dottie” will receive friends from Oak Grove School from 5:30-6 p.m. with other friends coming from 6-8 p.m. at the Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master St., Corbin.
