James Meadors, of Old Corbin Road, Corbin, departed this life on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Baptist Health Corbin. He was 82 years, 9 months and 14 days of age. He was born on Jan. 13, 1932, in Whitley County, to the late Isham Meadors and Ethel Smith Meadors.
He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Jamie Meadors and Samuel Matlock; brother, Howard Meadors; and sisters, Arvilla Logan and Shirley Meadors. He was a former employee of the Corbin Brick Yard.
He is survived by his two sons, Kenneth Meadors (wife Tammy), of Chatsworth, Ga., and Bill Meadors (wife Marie), of Corbin; six daughters, Wilma Grubb, of Corbin, Brenda Matlock, of Williamsburg, Juanita Stephens (husband Kenneth), of Corbin, Betty Stephens, of Williamsburg, Jeanetta Turner (husband Jimmy), of Gray, and Margaret Hill (husband Steve), of Rockholds; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one stepson, Daniel Middleton (wife Nancy), of Barbourville; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Carr (husband Harold) and Mattie Rose Carr, of Rockholds; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Decker and the Rev. Jimmy Logan officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Marlow Cemetery at Browns Creek
