Bobbie Gerst

CORBIN — Bobbie Gambrel Gerst, age 80, of Halls, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013. Born in Flat Lick, she taught Sunday school and attended Black Oak Baptist Church for over 20 years. Later she joined Christ United Methodist Church where she attended regularly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Robert Gambrel; husband of 50 years, William Herschel Gerst; and niece, Lonnie Fay Gambrel. Bobbie worked as a hairdresser for 31 years and operated Bobbie G’s Beauty Salon and later was a hair dresser at Kutters Unique.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ethel Gerst Noe and Gordy Noe; grandsons, Chris and Austin Noe; nephew, Matt Callihan; sister, Jacquline Gambrel; and close friends, Kathalene Hurst and Linda Albright.

The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers Connie, Lisa, Crystal and Maggie for such wonderful care, compassion and love over the past few years.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce Marston officiating. Interment will be 1 p.m. Friday at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers include Gordy Noe, Chris Noe, Austin Noe, Tommy Noe, Cory McCurry and Matt Callihan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777.
