Irene Jones


Irene Jones, of Williamsburg, departed his life on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. She was 88 years, 4 months, and 11 days of age. She was born on March 15, 1924 in Whitley County, to the late Ledford Perkins and Martha Lawson Perkins. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Jennings “Jink” Jones. She was a member of the Beechbottom Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Robert Lee Jones and wife Thelma, of Williamsburg; one daughter, Wanda Lee Hatfield, of Williamsburg; three grandchildren, Linda Kay Watson (Steve), of Williamsburg, John Robert Jones, of Corbin, and Nancy Rosalee Hatfield, of Williamsburg; seven great grandchildren, Kendall Jones, Steven Watson, Destanny Hatfield, Jonathan Watson, Benjamin Hatfield, Rachel Hatfield and Breanna Hatfield; one sister, Iver Jean Carr, of the Yaden Community, Williamsburg; one brother, Mitchell Perkins (Mary), of Williamsburg; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Mahan and Rev. Larry Callahan officiating. Following a 10 a.m. graveside service on Monday, July 30, 2012, she will be laid to rest in the Whitley Memorial Gardens.
