Charles Freeman

CORBIN — Charles C. Freeman, born March 12, 1923, died Sept. 25, 2013, age 90.One of nine children born to Luther S. Freeman and Allie Moore Freeman in Alva.

Charles served in World War II in Normandy, Central Europe, Rhineland and Northern France. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of Williamsburg Masonic Lodge #490 F. & AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters, wife Joyce Hatcher, two sons Charles David and Ronald Freeman, and daughter Mary Ann Jones.

He is survived by his children: Betty Croley and husband Billy, Victor Freeman, Cathy Freeman, Alan Freeman and wife Melissa, Joe Freeman and wife Betty, Debbie Douglas and husband Harold, Bill Freeman and wife Kathy, Bruce Freeman and wife Jenny, and daughter-in-law Millie Freeman; grandchildren: Bobby Freeman and wife Angie, Mary Beth Freeman, Chris Freeman and wife Hollie, Donna Douglas, Elizabeth Jones, Ashley Freeman, Casey Freeman, Anesha Freeman, Josh Douglas, Mackenzie Perry, Tyler Freeman, Megan Freeman, and LilieGrace Freeman; great-grandchildren: Tyler Davis, Dalton Freeman, Will, Keisha, Darius Kellogg, McKenna, Payton, and Aliannah Brownlee and Cayson Harrell; great-great grandchild, Aaden Davis; one sister, Billie Baird and husband Francis, of Cincinnati, Ohio; special family: Jean, Linda, Sibby and Corey, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Sester and the Rev. Bruce Lee officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Highland Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel.

Masonic last rites will be conducted by the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge #490 F&AM at 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 88 Corbin.
