The Rev. Richard Rogers, age 80, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Saint Joseph London.
Born in Laurel County, he was the son of the late George Washington Rogers and Mary Romines Rogers. He had worked at the GM Fisher Body plant and was pastor of Gordon Hill Deliverance Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Earl Rogers, Doran Ray Rogers and Casper Glen Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Felts Rogers, whom he married on Sept. 27, 1953; son, Rick Lynn Rogers; four grandchildren, Shantaine Barton, Jack Douglas “J.D.” Rogers, Richie Rogers and Jennifer Rogers; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Promise, Corey, Brody, Cooper, Rhilynn, Sarah and Caleb; siblings, Edna Coffey, Gerri Daniels and husband Bill, Faye Wyatt, Sue Hall and husband Wayne, and Ann Johnson and husband Ed, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, at the Dorthae Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Tim Suter, the Rev. Roger Miller, and the Rev. Kenny Saylor officiating. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Dorthae Pentecostal Church.
