Ralph Rapier

CORBIN — Ralph A. Rapier, 67, of Cumberland Falls Hwy., passed away Monday, June 13, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a short battle with cancer.

A member of Steele’s Chapel Christian Church, he was a veteran of the Army National Guard of Kentucky where he served in the Military Police. Also, he was a retired trainman of CSX Transportation with 34 years of service.

His father, Robert N. Rapier, and his sister, Arlene Rapier, preceded him in death.

His survivors include his wife of 45 years, Donna Sullivan Rapier; his mother Marie Decker Rapier; three children: Tammy (Jim) Wilson, Theresa Rapier, and Ralph Rapier II; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Brandon (Emily) Shelley, Derek Shelley, Sydney Logsdon, Zachary Logsdon, Jillian Hall, Nathan Wilson, Natalie (Daniel) Rice, Nicolas Wilson, Naomi Woods, Noelle Wilson, Allison and Isaac Rice, and Gabriella Woods; one sister Irene (Bill) Jones, one brother Dallas (Betty) Rapier; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Brenda Sullivan. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews and other family members and numerous friends, all of whom mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Andrew Darden officiating. Burial will follow in the Worley Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the D.A.V. Chapters 158 and 66. The following CSX Trainmen will be serving as pallbearers: Landon Hinkle, Dave King, Mike Boggs, Johnny (Bull) Durham, Terry Taylor, Butch McCreary, Jeff Sullivan, Scotty Williams, Bill Penn, Nathan Wilson, and Charlie Huff as well as two very special honorary pallbearers, Landon Lawson and James Cobb.

The family of Ralph A. Rapier will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master St., Corbin (528-5311).
