The Rev. John Justice, of Singing Hills Road, Corbin, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at his home in Corbin. He was 75 years, 7 months and 4 days of age. He was born on July 20, 1938, in Floyd County, to the late Elbert Justice and Dixie McKinney. He was a minister for more than 45 years. He graduated from the Kentucky Mountain Baptist Bible College and Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Bell County, where he received both a master’s and doctorate degree. He pastored at Jellico Creek Baptist Church and Wolf Creek Baptist Church in Whitley County, and he died Pastor Emeritus of Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Ann Justice, of Corbin; four daughters, Sandrah Brittian (Harry), of Lawrenceburg, Elizabeth Ann Justice, of Corbin, Huetta Graham (Kevin), of Yuma, Ariz., and Noella Deaton (Lucian), of Somerset; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorine Justice, of Shelbiana, Martha Wilburn, of Harold, and Dixie Bell; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Justice will lie-in-state at the Wolf Creek Baptist Church on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, from noon until the funeral hour.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at the Wolf Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny O. Carr officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Wolf Creek Church Cemetery in Williamsburg.
