John Ladenburger

CORBIN — John Lewis Ladenburger, 88, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Baptist Health Corbin.

John entered into this life on Oct. 28, 1925, in Mason County, a son of the late Charles and Olga Plummer Ladenburger. John graduated from the Minera High School, and went on to bravely serve his country in the United States Army Air Corps, during World War II. While serving in the Army Air Corps, he rose to the rank of SGT, earning the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was united in marriage on Sept. 27, 1952, to Jeanette Blair, and they shared 61 wonderful years together. John worked as a Tobacco Buyer for the RJ Reynolds Company, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of the 1st Christian Church in Corbin, where he was an Elder Emeritus and a two time Chairman of the Board. He served on the Board of Directors of the 1st National Bank of Corbin, as well as the Executive Committee, for many years. John was a member of the UK Fellows, the Henry Barker Follows and the Hugh Harris Masonic Lodge No. 938. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and UK fan.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Jeanette Ladenburger, of Corbin; two sisters: Jane Vollmer and Laura Conrady, both of the Greater Cincinnati Area; a brother: Jerry Ladenburger, of the Greater Cincinnati Area; his best friend, Eldred Von Gruenigen, of Corbin; a special niece: Dr. Vivian Von Gruenigen, M.D.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his foster parents: Verne and Lou Dunham, of Dover.

Graveside services for Mr. John Ladenburger will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Pine Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 88. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the 1st Christian Church.
