Barbara Barton

CORBIN —

Barbara Sue Coffey Tompkins Barton, age 60, of Corbin, was born in Pontiac, Mich., on Oct. 19, 1952, to Gloria Rogers Coffey and the late William Kelcie Coffey and departed this life Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at her home. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Richard Lee “Sonny” Tompkins and Billy E. Barton; her father, William K. Coffey; four brothers, Ronnie Coffey, James Coffey, Duane Sykes and Leonard Wendell “Dale” Sykes; and a nephew, Ethan Christopher Sykes.

Mrs. Barton is survived by her mother, Gloria E. Coffey; her loving children, Erica Lee Jackson and husband Gary, and Ryan Blake Tompkins and wife Merkie, all of Corbin; three brothers, Gene Coffey and wife Rose, of Burlington, Jeff Sykes, of Corbin, and Robert Beach and wife Vonell, of Lily; three sisters, Wanda Russell and husband Charles and Donna Bass, all of Corbin, and Linda Kinney and husband Everett, of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Jill Coffey, of Corbin; a very special friend, Donny Karr, of Lily; three grandchildren, Ryan Austin Tompkins, Baylie Danielle Tompkins and Brayden James Richard Tompkins; and a host of loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Tompkins Barton will be conducted on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Robinson and Rev. Daniel Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Stansburry Cemetery in Corbin with Roger Coffey, J.B. Coffey, Billy Coffey, Jeremy Carrol, Ryan Tompkins, Maury O’Neal and Wayne Fox serving as pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home Saturday evening from 7:30-10 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to the funeral hour at 2 p.m.
