Julia Tessalene (Tess) Karr Smith, 87, of Laurel Lake Road, London, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin.
Born on Aug. 4, 1925, Julia Karr Smith was the daughter of the late Thomas and Esther Jones Karr. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Minor Smith; three brothers, James Karr, David Karr and Duane Karr; and a sister, Polly Etta Masters Parkey.
Survivors include a son, Tom A. Smith (Teri) and a daughter, Julia Ann Smith Baker (Richard), both of London; three grandchildren Joshua D. Smith (Shana), of London, Jacob D. Smith (Aimee), of Chicago, Ill., and Julia Elizabeth (Julie Beth) Baker, of London. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Cody A. Smith, Asher N. Smith and Gabriel S. Smith; and five sisters-in-law, Irene Martin Karr, of London, Betty Karr, Doris Issacs, Louise Fenwick and Kathleen Yates, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends who will mourn her passing.
The family will receive friends at O’Neil-Lawson Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 20. Funeral services for Julia Smith will be held at O’Neil Lawson Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 with the Brother Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Locus Grove Cemetery in Keavy.
