CORBIN — Mrs. Vernice Flossie Campbell, age 87, the wife of the late Willis E. “Shorty” Campbell, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a life of servitude, Monday afternoon at the Christian Healthcare Center in Corbin.

Vernice was a loving and devoted mother, who always put Christ and her family first. She was an accomplished seamstress and gardener as well. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Helton and Cynthia Shoupe Helton Capple; two brothers: Verlin and Vernon Helton; one infant daughter; one infant son; one daughter, Patricia Ann Campbell Skinner; and one grandson, Barry L. Skinner.

She will be remembered as the loving and devoted mother of Rocky Campbell and wife Debbie, of Elizabethtown; the nurturing grandmother of Tracy Skinner (Shauna), Lori Keck (Jeff), and Adam Campbell( Abbey); the caring great-grandmother of Brodi, Brook, Tray, Xavier , Campbell, Harper, and Ainsley; and the fun- loving and loyal sister-in-law of Gail Haggard, of Harrodsburg.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vernice Flossie Campbell will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily.

The family of Mrs. Vernice Flossie Campbell will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour of 2 p.m. on Friday at Corbin Funeral Home.
