Thomas E. Byrd, age 75, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was born March 22, 1937, in Williamsburg to the Late John Byrd and the late Mary Byrd. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Steven Wayne Byrd, a daughter Pamela Byrd and a brother Bobby J. Byrd.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Jean “Patsy” Byrd, of Knoxville, Tenn.; one son, David Lynn Byrd, of Clinton, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Brittany Morgan, Kristian Byrd and Tyler Byrd; three great-grandchildren, Micah Morgan, Hayden Morgan and Mason Ortiz; five brothers, Richard Byrd, of Cynthiana, Ted Byrd and wife Shirley, of Newport, Ken Byrd and wife Joyce, of Williamsburg, Jerry Byrd and wife Shelia, of Cartersville, Ga., and Pat Byrd and wife Kathy, of Williamsburg, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel in Williamsburg with the Rev. Fred Powers officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Moses Addition of the Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour on Monday.
