James Walden

James M. (Jim) Walden, 90, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, with his daughters by his side.

He was the son of William and Katie Sullivan Walden, who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Peggy Jones Walden, by one daughter, Eudella Walden, by four sisters, Allie Proffitt, Beulah Boyles, Sarah Walden and Nelly Bauereiss, and by three brothers, Frank Walden, Jesse Walden and Charles Walden.

He is survived by four daughters, Kathern Finley and husband Kenneth, of London, Betty Thomas, of London, Ella Shanklin and husband Ronnie, of Fairfield, Ohio, and Jamie Doneghy and husband John, of London; by six grandchildren, James Finley, Edward House, Ronnie Shanklin II, Peggy Anderson, Shaun Shanklin and Nanette Carson; by 12 great-grandchildren, Edward House II, Casie Finley, Chelsea Shanklin, Michael Anderson, Austin Anderson, Sydney Shanklin, Brandon Finley, Hailee Carson, Jamison Carson, Braeden Shanklin, Javon Carson and McKenzee Shanklin; by five brothers, William G. Walden, of London, Jack Walden, of Hamilton, Ohio, John Walden, of Montezuma, Ga., Eugene Walden, of Middletown, Ohio, and Douglas Walden, of Lady Lake, Fla.; by three sisters, Betty Jones, of London, Hettie Crawford, of Hamilton, Ohio, and Mary Jarvis, of Huber Heights, Ohio.

He was a faithful member and deacon of Fariston United Baptist Church for over 52 years. He served Laurel County as magistrate of District No. 2 for two terms. He was a member of the Fifth Congressional District Democratic Hall of Fame. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army 1897 Aviation Engineers in South Pacific. Funeral services for James M. (Jim) Walden will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in London Funeral Home Chapel with David Hammock and Denny Proffitt officiating. Burial will follow in Norvell Cemetery in Fariston, with the local D.A.V. in charge of military honors. The family of James M. (Jim) Walden will receive friends at London Funeral Home after 6 p.m. on Thursday. Pallbearers will be James Finley, Edward House, Ronnie Shanklin II, Shaun Shanklin, Edward House II, Michael Anderson, Austin Anderson and Brandon Finley. Honorary pallbearers will be Peggy Anderson, Nanette Carson, Jamison Carson, Braeden Shanklin and Javon Carson.
