Daimon Curtis Powers, of Knoxville, Tenn., and formerly of Williamsburg, departed this life on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Beech Tree Manor Nursing Home in Jellico, Tenn. He was 79 years, 10 months and 18 days of age. He was born on Sept. 10, 1933, in Whitley County, to the late Rev. James A. Powers and Laura Bird Powers.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Alene Powers; a son, Brian Trent Powers; a grandson, Samuel Powers; a great-granddaughter; his brothers, the Rev. Nelson Powers, Chester Powers, Pairon Powers, Oscar Paul Powers, John Powers and the Rev. Barton Powers; and his sisters, Ada Myrtle, Dovie, Velma and Susie.
He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Williamsburg and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by four daughters, Rhonda Kay Foley (Gary), of Williamsburg, Tamara Nicole Silcox (Patrick),Christal Dawn Rutherford (Darren), of Jellico, Tenn., and Melody Lynette Harmon (Paul), of Lafollette, Tenn.; five sons, Damon Alan Powers (Renata), Joey Michael Powers, Trevor Anthony Powers, Kevin Christopher Powers (Melissa) and Derrick Vaughn Powers, all of Williamsburg; 34 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, T.J. Powers (Janice), of Williamsburg; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Powers officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Whitley Memorial Garden following Military Graveside Honors conducted by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
