Verlin Perkins, of Old Corbin Pike Road, Williamsburg, departed this life on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Jellico Community Hospital in Jellico, Tenn. He was 56 years, 4 months, and 2 days of age. He was born on Dec. 18, 1956, in Middletown, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl V. Perkins, and his stepfather, Earl Centers. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a member of Mt. Ash Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Perkins, of Williamsburg; one daughter, Mary Perkins Mayer (Scott), of Williamsburg; one son, Steven Perkins (Amanda Fuston), of Corbin; two grandchildren, Kaidence Perkins and Ayden Perkins; his mother, Artie Centers, of Williamsburg; two sisters, Anna Jean Lawson, of Worthington, Ohio, and Jennifer Graham, of Somerset; one stepbrother, Sam Centers, of Jellico, Tenn.; four stepsisters, Paulette King, of Williamsburg, Donna Slusher, of Hulen, Pam Coker, of Williamsburg, and Betty Brock, of Pineville; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vic Edwards officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Canadatown Cemetery.
A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post 88 of Corbin.
