Paul Rogers

CORBIN — Paul Rogers, beloved husband of Dorothy (Doll) Rogers, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his home on Lansdowne Lane in Williamsburg with his wife, Doll Rogers, and stepdaughter, Gail Drake, at this bedside. He was 80 years of age. Paul was born in Baltimore, Md., on April 23, 1932, where he met his Lord and Master on a street corner in Baltimore. He immediately started serving the Lord, teaching a boy’s Sunday school class for over 30 years, serving as a deacon, singing in the choir, leading a young people’s group, and serving as their choir leader in Baptist churches in Baltimore. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hank Rogers and Mable Jane Rogers. He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church.

He married Doll Rogers on March 7, 2009, and moved to Williamsburg where he continued until his death to serve faithfully at the Main Street Baptist Church as door greeter, choir member, going on mission trips, and other leadership roles. Paul also enjoyed traveling. He and his wife travelled to more than 45 states in the U.S. as well as abroad. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorothy “Doll” Lane Rogers, of Williamsburg; two daughters, Robin Lewis and Bridgett Kahntroff, both of Baltimore, Md.; two stepdaughters, Gail Drake, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Susan Jett of Bruhl, Germany; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m.  Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg with Rev. Albert Jones, Rev. Bill Wright, and Dr. Rick Fleenor officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Roger’s Sunday School class at Main Street Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church.
