Philip Caudill Sr.

CORBIN — Philip R. Caudill Sr., 77, of Lexington, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on Dec. 20, 1936, in Blackey, the son of the late Virgil and Renevae (Dixon) Caudill.

Philip graduated from Dupont Manuel High School in Louisville, and also earned a bachelor’s degree from Berea College. He was a retired Chief Chemical Engineer and Technical Director for the old Holm Industries in Scottsburg, Ind., where he worked for 20 years and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Madison, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Caudill on May 20, 2001, and a brother, Billy Caudill.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth E. Matthews, of Scottsburg, Ind., and Cheryl D. LaMar (Ron), of Lexington, Ind.; a son, Philip Reed Caudill Jr., of Savannah, Ga.; a brother, Dale Caudill (Betty), of Greer, S.C.; five grandchildren, Erica Raines, Michael Pfeiffer (Mian), Summer Matthews, Logan LaMar and Kendra Matthews; and great-granddaughter, Josi Moon.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
