Rachel Mays

CORBIN — Rachel Marie Mays, of Louden Road, Williamsburg, departed this life on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. She was 70 years, 3 months, and 25 days of age. She was born on Jan. 26, 1943 in Whitley County, to the late William Turner Sergent and Mamie Carpenter Sergent. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Garrett Newman Mays. She was a member of the Louden Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Garry Newman Mays and wife Donna Kay, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., and William Herman Mays and wife Audrey, of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Jessica Mays, Jamie Marie Shimmell, Jody Mays, Kimberly Mays Lawson and Kristie Mays; great-grandchildren, Madison Michelle Ivey, Laura Marie Shimmell, Kaylynn Ellis and Rachael Renee Lawson; one brother, Jerry Carl Segent and wife Janet, of Williamsburg; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday, 23, 2013 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Louden Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Meadors and the Rev. Bobby Fuson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Sears Cemetery.

Mrs. Mays will lie in state for one hour before the funeral service on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Louden Baptist Church.
