Virginia Latane Frazier, 76, of Corbin, was called home to be with her Lord after her courageous battle with cancer on April 8, 2013.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry David, of 49 years who passed on April 2 1998, her parents, Joseph M. and Dessi Proffitt, her sisters, Mary Ridenour (Walter) and Edna Carroll (R.L.), brother, Andrew Proffitt (whose wife Rita survives), and daughter, Deborah Jackson.
Also surviving are her sister, Margaret Lorane Moore; five sons: David R. (Debbie), Gregg (Deb), Scott (Lisa), Harry (Lyn) and Ron; 12 grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, all to mourn her passing.
Many will remember her for various achievements including her volunteer work preparing taxes for over 10 years, being the Duchess of the Red Hat RZ Dazzlers, serving as treasurer of the Tri-County Homemakers Club, participating in the Whitley County Extension Homemaker Association and the AARP Tri-County Chapter No. 4333, serving as board director and chairman. Her most recent accomplishment was receiving the AARP Volunteer of the Year Award, which, sadly, was announced the day she left her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bennie Bush officiating. Burial will follow in McFarland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master St., Corbin.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to a favorite charity.
