Mrs. Ethel R. Gambrel, age 78, of Williamsburg, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin.
Ethel entered into this life on July 31, 1934 in Knox County, the daughter of Tom and Susan Smith Shelton, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and spent her days loving and caring for her family. She was united in marriage to Tommy Gambrel in 1953 and they shared 60 wonderful years together. She was a member of the Mossy Gap Baptist Church and will be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing and crafts.
Ethel will be lovingly remembered by her husband: Tommy Gambrel, of Williamsburg, two children: Thomas R. Gambrel, of Corbin, and Charlisa Gambrel Stewart, of London; four grandchildren: Leslie, Adam, Sierra and Scotland; two great-grandchildren: Taryn and Madison; a brother: Warren Shelton, of Corbin; four sisters: Lo Dean Lake, of Williamsburg, Wilma McCreary, of Nicholasville, Imogene West, of Barbourville, and Rheba Baker, of Corbin; and a host of friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Susan Smith Shelton; a grandson: Spencer and two brothers: Denver and Shelby Shelton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Gambrel will be conducted on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. At the request of Mrs. Gambrel’s family, graveside services will be kept private.
Visitation for Mrs. Ethel Gambrel will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home.
