Herman Stanley

CORBIN — Herman Leroy Stanley, of New Zion Church Road, Williamsburg, departed this life on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Baptist Health in Corbin. He was 86 years, 9 months and 14 days of age. He was born on June 8, 1927, in Whitley County to the late Emit Stanley and Sudie Sergent Stanley. He was  preceded in death by his son, Terry Stanley. He was a deacon, treasurer, and member of Briar Creek Baptist Church.  He was past president, coach, and member of the Williamsburg Optimist Club for many years. He served in the Merchant Marines.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Cordell Stanley, of Williamsburg; one son, David Stanley, of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Linda Stanley, of Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Mark Stanley (Kathy), of Williamsburg, Bradley Stanley, of Dayton, Ohio, Alicia Dill (Zach), of Columbus, Ohio, and Tracy Skidmore, of Williamsburg; three great-grandchildren, Camden Skidmore, Kirsten Skidmore, and Gauge Stanley; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Stanley, of Williamsburg, and Evonne Stanley, of Cincinnati, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m.  Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m.  Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Broyles Cemetery in Rockholds.
