Clyde Childers, 87, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Hospice of Hamilton in Hamilton, Ohio.
Born Jan. 13, 1926, in Beerock, McCreary County, he was the son of the late Emby Childers and Lola Taylor Childers.
He was a World War II Veteran, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy – SIC Armed Guard on various ships: SS James Sullivan, SS Andrew Briscoe and USS Thomas Jefferson. Also, he was a retired Teamster Local 100 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George Walter Troutman, and his mother-in-law, Alice Etta Butcher Troutman, who were from Woodbine.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Troutman Childers; three children: Wade Childers, of West Chester, Ohio, Sandra Childers Roberson and husband Don, of Simpsonville, S.C., and Donna Childers Smith, of Fairfield, Ohio; his identical twin brother, Carl Childers, of Port Union, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends all who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Green officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery with military rites by the D.A.V. Chapters 158 & 66.
The family of Clyde Childers will receive friends on Monday from noon until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
