The GF Flyers Tumbling and Trampoline Team from Gail Frederick Gymnastics just completed their 2009-2010 competition season, and what an exciting season it was!

This year’s team of 26 consisted of 12 new team members, and these new members did not perform like rookies.

The most outstanding new team member was 11-year-old Anna Bridges, daughter of Jason and jess Bridges of Corbin. She brought home an amazing 14 first place finishes this year. She won a total of four state champion titles in trampoline and double mini at the USTA and AAU State meets.

Another new team member, eight-year-old Taylor Holcomb, daughter of Chris and Deborah Holcomb, brought home six first place finishes this year. She also won the state champion title double mini at both the USTA and AAU State meets.

Another new team member, nine-year-old Sadie Ellis, also won state titles in both floor and trampoline.

The veteran team members continually brought home the gold at every meet.

One of the seasoned team members, 14-year-old Jade Profitt, won state champion titles in both trampoline and double mini. Jade is a former national Champion.

One of the advanced athletes on the GF Flyers Tumbling Team, 13-year-old Sarah McWilliams won State in both Sub-Advanced floor and Sub-Advanced double mini. Sarah also completes in the highest possible level in trampoline.

Other state champions this year included ten-year old Blair Smith in both floor and double mini, nine-year-old Halia Stidham in floor and 12-year-old Brianna Helton in Floor.

Several girls won special awards at various meets called “High Point” awards. This award is given to the athlete who has the highest score in their competition level regardless of their age.

The most incredible high point award given out on the Gail Frederick team this year went to seven-year-old Cady Estep, daughter of Chad and Anna Estep. Cady scored higher than 14-year-olds to win this award.

Other high point award winners this year were Keeli Barton, Brietta Miles, Blair Smith, Macie Doan, Jade Profitt and Taylor Hamlin.

The team members work hard all year to prepare for the USTA and AAU State meets where they compete for division and overall team trophies. Their hard work paid off. The GF Flyers won six division trophies and an overall team trophy.

Coaches Kelly Wylie Chesnut and Jenny Tillery are very proud of the team and are looking forward to an exciting 2010-2011 competition season.
