An 8-year-old boy riding his bike was struck by a car in Knox County Friday night.
Kentucky State Police reported that the child pulled into the path of a 1998 Volkswagen driven by 33-year-old Martha J. Elliott of Bimble. The accident happened at about 7:20 p.m. in the Boone Heights subdivision of Barbourville on KY 3439.
The child, whose name was not released by police, was taken to Knox County Hospital and later airlifted to University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
The child’s condition was not available as of press time.
Elliott received no injuries but was charged with driving with an expired license and having no insurance. An investigation continues by Trooper Jacob Wilson.
