POLICE ROUNDUP: Tennessee fugitive arrested in Whitley

TRI-COUNTY — A fugitive from Tennessee was arrested by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, according to Sheriff Colan Harrell.

Deputies Sgt. Tim Baker and K-9 Deputy Kirk Mays arrested James Lloyd Walters, 30, of Oak Ridge, Tenn. Walters was charged with fugitive from another state and had been wanted by the Knox County (Tenn.) Sheriff’s Department for aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and reckless endangerment.

Walters had allegedly robbed a residence in Knoxville, Tenn., and pointed a gun at the homeowner, before stealing her purse and threatening to kill her and her young child. He was extradited by the Tennessee authorities, according to Harrell.

Domestic violence complaint leads to arrest

A domestic violence complaint resulted in two arrests on Tuesday night, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Deputies Shawn Boroviak, and Sgt. Brett Reeves responded to a domestic violence dispute on American Greeting Card Road, about 11:10 p.m. Tuesday. When deputies arrived, both parties involved in the domestic complaint — Pamela R. Hatfield, 22, and Michael D. Ramey, 34 — claimed the other had assaulted them.

Hatfield said Ramey had become aggravated and threw things at her. She also told deputies that Ramey grabbed her and shoved her away from him.

Ramey said Hatfield was trying to hit him in the face, and was throwing things at him. A witness told deputies Hatfield had struck Ramey in the face several times.

Both Hatfield and Ramey were arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault. They were both jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
