CORBIN — A year’s worth of hard work and undercover investigations paid off Thursday for Corbin Police when 25 accused drug dealers were rounded up, arrested and taken to jail.

A total of 40 warrants were issued for people involved in selling and trafficking of drugs, as well as firearms.

Officials said the roundup began about 8:30 a.m. and continued into the afternoon. Those rounded up included several who police said were large volume drug sellers in Corbin, as well as some who were caught selling for the first time.

Those working in the investigation said the roundup sent a stinging message to those who desire to sell illegal drugs in the city.

“We hope this will put a dent in the drug problem here in Corbin,” said Maj. Rob Jones, Public Affairs Officer of the Corbin Police Department.

Investigators went undercover during the past two-to-three months to make drug buys off the dealers, which involved a variety of illegal pills, as well as methamphetamine and marijuana.

Lt. Glenn Taylor said the department spent “over thousands of dollars” for he and Capt. Coy Wilson to make the undercover buys, which set the table for Thursday’s drug roundup.

“We chased her down the hall. She had five pill bottles full and was going to flush them down the toilet. That’s 375 pills. That’s when we caught her. Several guns were also found hat her house,” Jones said.

Also confiscated were some marijuana plants that were growing at White’s home, also on Gordon Hill Pike. Capt. Wilson showed the plants to the media Thursday, which were being stored at the police station for evidence.

As of Thursday night, police said 10 people remain at large with arrest warrants. Jones noted that more arrests would be coming, and that the investigation was an ongoing one.
