Corbin crash sends one to hospital

CORBIN —  A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kentucky Avenue and 2nd Street in Corbin caused damage to two trucks and sent a man to the hospital Monday afternoon. The wreck occurred around 12:50 p.m.

According to Maj. Rob Jones of the Corbin Police Department, a white GMC Sierra 4x4 driven by Gerald Majors, DVM, 60, of Corbin, was going southbound in the left lane of Kentucky Avenue and was making a left turn onto 2nd Street. Behind him was a red Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Dillon Major, 18, of Corbin.

Police said as the GMC slowed down to turn, the Chevy did not and hit the GMC, causing it to hit a pole at the corner of Kentucky and 2nd. A passenger in the Chevy truck, Josh Wright, 18, of Corbin, was injured in the collision and taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin hospital for treatment.

The Corbin Fire Department and Whitley County Ambulance assisted at the scene. Maj. Jones continues to investigate.
