A Corbin man was arrested Thursday by Kentucky State Police after he used the Internet website Topix to solicit a killer.
Tristan James Hall, 29, of Corbin, was charged with solicitation to commit murder. He turned himself in at KSP Post 11 in London at 4:15 p.m. Thursday and was arrested by Det. Richie Baxter.
Hall is jailed at the Whitley County Detention Center in Williamsburg.
According to Trooper First Class Don Trosper, the public affairs officer for KSP-London, the post was on Topix on Jan. 10. Hall allegedly said on the post that he would pay someone to kill another person. The intended person saw the post and contacted police.
When the comment was traced back to Hall by police, the person Hall said he wanted killed didn’t think it was credible at the time, but he wasn’t sure and decided on second thought to notify police, Trosper said.
The investigation took approximately five months, because it took time to trace the origin of the post through Internet service providers and websites.
Baxter is continuing the investigation.
