Police Roundup - Sept. 10, 2012

CORBIN — Times-Tribune Staff Report

London man arrested for kidnapping baby

A London man was arrested Friday after he assaulted his girlfriend and kidnapped her 3-month-old baby, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Bobby J. Bruce, 28, became angry with his girlfriend about whether he was the baby’s biological father and forced his way into her home. When he left, he took the baby, Root said.

About 7 p.m., Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and deputies Robbie Grimes and Milton Storm were dispatched to the complaint. Poynter talked to Bruce by cell phone and was able to determine Bruce’s location and had him to pull off the road near Williamsburg.

The Williamsburg Police Department and Kentucky State Police detained Bruce until Laurel County deputies arrived and arrested him.

Bruce is charged with fourth-degree assault and domestic violence. He is jailed in the Laurel County Detention Center. Root said Bruce could face additional charges following his department’s investigation.

Florida fugitive arrested in Laurel County

Stewart was arrested about 6:30 p.m. by Detective Jason Back, who was working with the London Office of the U.S. Marshal Service to arrest fugitives in the area who are wanted on outstanding warrants.

Stewart will be extradited back to Florida. He was jailed in the Laurel County Corrections Center.
