Veterans Day closures, observances, Corbin, KY

Veterans Day, a federal holiday, is Monday. Therefore, there will be no mail delivery and no issue of the Times-Tribune. Subscribers will receive the next edition in the mail on Tuesday and copies will be available at newsstands.

In the Tri-County, city offices in London, Corbin and Williamsburg will be closed on Monday for Veterans Day, as well as county offices in Knox, Laurel, and Whitley counties. The city offices of Barbourville will be open.

The Whitley County Courthouse and the Whitley County Health Department will be closed Monday.

There will be no garbage pickup in Williamsburg or Corbin. Residents of Williamsburg had their garbage picked up Friday, and residents of Corbin will have their garbage picked up this Tuesday.

Garbage pickup will occur Monday in London and Barbourville.


Williamsburg Independent Schools will hold a Veterans Day Celebration School Assembly at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Main Street Baptist Church.

The Whitley County High School JROTC will have an unveiling ceremony of the 1SG (Ret.) Dewayne E. Bunch Courtyard of Patriots at 11 a.m. Monday in front of the Whitley County High School.

A community Veterans Day ceremony will begin at 3:30  p.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery in Williamsburg. This ceremony includes live music and a flag ceremony. Limited seating is provided. Call 532-4231.

Hunter Hills Elementary School will host an annual Veterans Day program that includes a veterans lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. You can RSVP for lunch at 862-4655.

The Golden Corral in London will serve free meals for veterans from 4-11 p.m. Monday.

The Corbin Applebee’s will be serving free meals to veterans all day, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Wildcat Harley-Davidson in London is going to have an appreciation lunch for all current and retired veterans. Free food and drinks Monday from noon until 2 p.m. RSVP to 862-5656.

The Old Town Grill in London will be offering veterans with military IDs or uniforms one free entree from their select menu on Monday.

On Monday, Lynn Camp High School will serve lunch to veterans in the high school cafeteria from noon until 12:40 p.m. Following this, there will be a ceremony for everyone in the high school gymnasium at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
