A log truck veered off the road and left a Williamsburg man severely injured Tuesday afternoon, according to Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn Jackson.
Daniel Carr, whose age wasn’t available, was driving south on Hwy. 26 in Rockholds when he lost control of his 1972 logging truck that had been converted into a personal use farm vehicle. Carr ran off the road and struck an embankment.
About five minutes before the crash, a 911 call about a reckless driver involving the same vehicle was received. Jackson said alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
Carr sustained chest and facial injuries and was airlifted from the parking lot of Whitley North Elementary to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Jackson said Carr will likely face charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence.
Jackson continues his investigation. Others responding to the crash were Whitley County Sheriff’s Department Detective John Hill, Whitley County Emergency Management, Whitley County Emergency Medical Service, and the Rockholds Volunteer Fire Department.
