A head-on collision Friday between a pickup truck and a car in Laurel County has taken the life of a London woman, and sent another person to a Lexington hospital.
The accident happened at 1 p.m. on Ky. 192, about 10 miles west of London.
The driver of the car, Bonnie Hancock, 67, of London, died from injuries in the collision.
The driver of the truck, Lattie Neely, 53, of London, was injured and airlifted to the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office reported a Nissan Sentra driven by Hancock was westbound on 192 when it crossed the center line for unknown reasons, and struck the eastbound Dodge pickup driven by Neely head-on.
Sheriff’s Detective Richard Dalrymple was the investigating officer. Deputies Josh Scott, Kevin Berry and Shane Rice, along with Sheriff’s Officer Luther Arnold, assisted at the scene.
They were assisted by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, the London-Laurel Rescue Squad, the Bald Rock Fire Department, PHI Helicopter and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
Det. Dalrymple continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
