Whitley County drug roundup continues

Two individuals wanted for drug trafficking in Whitley County were arrested Saturday and Monday, according to Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell.

James Helton, a fugitive from the Whitley County Sheriff’s drug roundup, which was held on July 9, was arrested by Kentucky State Trooper Duane Foley on Saturday.

Helton was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance in relation to the drug roundup. Foley also charged Helton with additional charges and transported him to the Whitley County Detention Center.

A second arrest was made on Monday after Lloyd Darrell Siler, 58, of Willliamsburg, turned himself in to the sheriff’s department.

Siler was charged with second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, according to the sheriff’s report.

Williamsburg man arrested on drug charges

A Williamsburg man was arrested Saturday on multiple drug charges after law enforcement found cocaine and prescription medication in his home while serving an arrest warrant, according to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.

Whitley County K-9 Deputy Kirk Mays, Corbin Police Department K-9 Officer Steve Meadors and Corbin Police Patrolman A. Peace went to serve an arrest warrant on James M. Lee, 37, of Williamsburg, for first-degree trafficking of a controlled substance.

When officers found Lee inside his residence and took him into custody, they also found in plain view three small baggies with a white powdery substance lying on Lee’s bed, the arrest report said.

Lee reported the substance to be cocaine.

Also in plain view were two small pills identified as Oxycodone 30 mg, which is a schedule II narcotic, several hypodermic needles, spoons with powdery residue and several straws with a white powdery residue.

Lee was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance for the cocaine, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), drug paraphernalia and prescription of controlled substance not in original container.

Lee was also served with the warrant for trafficking in a controlled substance and transported to the Whitley County Detention Center.

London man charged with assault

A London man was arrested Friday after allegedly assaulting another man with a set of brass knuckles, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Det. Jason Back arrested Stephen Eversole, 32, of London, without incident Friday afternoon around 12:30 p.m.

Eversole was arrested due to allegedly striking a person in the face with brass knuckles causing multiple breaks to the victim’s skull, and cutting his face, according to the sheriff’s report.

Eversole was charged with first-degree assault and intimidating a participant in the legal process.

Eversole was also wanted on an outstanding Laurel County warrant. He was transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting in the investigation were Lt. Chuck Johnson, Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy James Sizemore and Deputy Dan Grigsby.
