Laurel man arrested by U.S. Marshals, Corbin, KY

A Laurel County man wanted for rape and other charges was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Virginia Wednesday night, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Task Force Officer Detective Jason Back along with other Deputy U.S. Marshals located and arrested Michael King at a residence in Blackwater, Va.

King, who had previously listed a residence on Laurel Lake Road, London, was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Laurel County. He had been a wanted person since January 2013. Warrants for his arrest included first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy and other charges.

Information about his possible whereabouts became available to deputies late Wednesday through confidential sources. That information was corroborated and arrangements were made to attempt to locate King, who was found in Virginia and arrested without incident. King was transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center where he awaits court appearances.
