POLICE ROUNDUP: Man arrested for DUI on tractor

TRI-COUNTY — Knox County Sheriff’s Department makes arrests

Several people were arrested by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

Those suspects and their charges include:

— Lee Jackson, 51, of Flat Lick, was arrested Monday and faces charges of third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.

— Jaime Harris, 35, of Flat Lick, was arrested Sunday and faces charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition of a firearm.

— Kenneth Simpson, 48, of Barbourville, was arrested Saturday and faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and failure to produce an insurance card.

—Darrell Lawson, 39, of Girdler, was arrested Saturday and was charged with fourth-degree assault through domestic violence.

— Jim Mills, 67, of Barbourville, was arrested May 2 and charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance and his first offense of prescription controlled substances not in their original container, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

— Billie Mitchell, 25, of Corbin, was arrested May 3 on a bench warrant.

— Lorretta Smith, 40, of Flat Lick, was arrested May 2 for driving on a DUI-suspended license, failure to maintain insurance, no registration receipt and a bench warrant.

— Sallie Brown, 23, of Dewitt, was arrested May 2 for alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and fourth-degree assault.

— Robert Couch, 31, of Girdler, was arrested May 2 and faces charges of second-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, and prescription controlled substances not in their original container.

— Shawn Witt, 33, of Corbin, was arrested May 2 for fraudulent use of a credit card and theft by unlawful taking or disposition through shoplifting.

— Daryl Mills, 38, of Scalf, was arrested May 2 and faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, driving on a DUI-suspended license, failure of non-owner operator to maintain insurance, and no registration plate.

— Amanda Smith, 27, of Girdler, was arrested May 2 and faces charges of first-degree possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, and first-degree prescription controlled substance not in the original container.

  • Couple pleads not guilty to abuse

    A Knox County couple facing charges in connection with second-degree burns on a child’s leg pleaded not guilty Tuesday morning during their preliminary hearings.
    Tyrone L. Person, 22, of Corbin, and Sierra Shepherd, 21, of Flat Lick, appeared before Judge John Chappell in Knox County District Court, according to a court official.
