Armed robbery leads to arrest

BARBOURVILLE — By John L. Ross / Staff Writer

An armed robbery in East Bernstadt led to the arrest of a London man.

James Adam Peters, 27, appears in court Wednesday facing charges of second-degree robbery and having a prescribed controlled substance not in its proper container, first offense.

According to Kentucky State TFC Don Trosper, Trooper Chris Roberts responded to a report of a robbery at the Ape Yard Market on KY 490.

The robbery happened in the parking lot, according to Trosper.

The female victim said she was approached by a man in the parking lot, armed with a gun, and he demanded money.

She complied with the man, who then fled the scene.

Roberts investigation led him to Peters, who was arrested and jailed in the Laurel County Detention Center.

The female was not injured during the robbery.
