A teenager died Saturday after losing control of a car that overturned and caught fire, according to Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan Lt. Ryan Catron.
The crash happened about 2 a.m. Saturday as the teen drove a 2008 Pontiac G6 along Turkey Creek Road in Flatlick. The car went off the road and overturned.
Trooper Aaron Frederick responded and found the car in flames with the driver trapped inside.
Four passengers were transported by Knox County EMS to landing zones and flown to the University of Tennessee and University of Kentucky Medical Centers. A fifth passenger was treated at the scene and released.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins. The teen’s name wasn’t released by police.
Frederick continues the investigation into the collison. He was assisted at the scene by Trooper Frank Russell, Sgt. Jason Bunch, East Knox Fire Dept and Barbourville Fire Dept./Rescue Squad.
