CORBIN — By Jeff Noble / Staff Writer

A complaint about two persons trying to sell drugs in the parking lot of a Corbin restaurant Tuesday has led to their arrest on several drug charges.

Crystal Centers, 42, and Jason Walters, 33, both of Rockholds, were charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense; third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense; a controlled prescription not in its original container, and trafficking in controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

Both were jailed in the Whitley County Detention Center in Williamsburg.

The arrests happened Tuesday in the parking lot of the Root Beer Stand on 18th Street, near Corbin High School.

According to Maj. Rob Jones of Corbin Police, they responded to the restaurant after a complaint of a man and woman attempting to sell drugs to customers in the restaurant’s parking lot.

Lt. Rick Baker arrived at the scene and began his investigation. He ultimately ended up questioning both Walters and Centers about possible drug activity being reported.

Baker determined the complaints were probable. After searching the couple’s vehicle, he seized a total of 197 pills and over $2,000 in cash.

The pills seized were Alprazolam, Oxymorphone and Oxycodone.

Both Centers and Walters were arrested without incident.

Lt. Baker continues his investigation. He was assisted by Ptl. Steve Meadors.
