Meth lab found in home where child lived

A meth lab was discovered Monday in a home along KY 6 where a child lived, according to Knox County Sheriff John D. Pickard.

Tina Westerfield, 36, and Paul Hill, 39, were discovered by authorities to be manufacturing methamphetamine in their residence near Little Indian Creek Road after the Knox County Sheriff’s Department received information on a possible meth lab. an investigation by Sheriff Pickard and deputies Derek Eubanks, Chad Wagner, and Bill Hamilton discovered gas generators, an inactive one-step meth lab, and items used to manufacture methamphetamine in the home.

Social Services was contacted when a child was found to be living in the residence, and the KSP DESI Meth cleanup team was also contacted to test and remove the hazardous materials used to manufacture methamphetamine that were located on the property.

Westerfield and Hill were arrested and charged with first-degree manufacturing methamphetamine.

Man involved in domestic violence complaint

A London man was involved in a domestic violence complaint Sunday night, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Earl Hallock, whose age wasn’t given, was arrested after a complaint that a man had assaulted a woman on Laurel Lake Road. Deputy Mikey Ashurst arrested Hallock and charged him with fourth-degree assault. He was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Two women arrested for shoplifting

Two women were arrested for shoplifting at Walmart in southern Laurel County Sunday afternoon, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Margarette E. Reynolds, 22, and Melissa L. Bowling, 39, both of Cannon, were arrested by Deputy Kevin Berry after being reported by Walmart’s loss prevention team. Reynolds was allegedly placing items she hadn’t paid for in her purse, and Bowling was observed placing bras, panties, and other items in Reynolds’ purse. Bowling then reportedly went to a non-functioning self checkout and pretended to scan items. Following this ruse, Bowling attempted to leave the store with the stolen items.

Reynolds and Bowling were charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting) and both were jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Man arrested following attempted break-in

A Corbin man was arrested Monday morning after he was found breaking into a parked car in the parking lot of Walmart in southern Laurel County, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Roger Ayers, 62, was observed breaking into the car, and deputies John Inman and Josh Scott were dispatched. Ayers struggled with the officers when they attempted to arrest him.

Ayers was arrested on West Cumberland Gap Parkway and charged with theft by unlawful taking, first-degree criminal trespass, resisting arrest, first-degree criminal mischief, and first-degree disorderly conduct. He was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting deputies Inman and Scott was Constable Tim May.

Woman arrested for shoplifting

A Corbin woman was arrested for shoplifting at a Walmart in southern Laurel County Sunday night, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Amy L. Potter, 32, was reported by Walmart’s loss prevention team after she was discovered wearing jeans still bearing their security tag. The jeans were from another store in the area.

Potter was arrested by Deputy Larry Parrott and charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting). She was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Parrott continues the investigation.

Woman arrested for shoplifting at Walmart

A Williamsburg woman was arrested Saturday evening for shoplifting at a Walmart in southern Laurel County, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Melissa Bennett, 30, was arrested by Deputy Larry Parrott and charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting). She was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Man arrested on bench warrant

A London man was arrested on a bench warrant Monday afternoon, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Jerry W. Wright, 58, was arrested by Deputy Larry Parrott and Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter on McWhorter Street near London. Wright was charged on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking and second-degree criminal mischief.

Wright was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
