Man pleads guilty to rape

CORBIN — By John L. Ross / Staff Writer

A Barbourville man formerly employed on staff with the Appalachian Home for Children pleaded guilty Friday to one count of third-degree rape.

Kevin Turner, 37, appeared before Judge Tom Jensen in Knox County Circuit Court with his attorney, Travis Rossman.

The plea means Turner would likely be sentenced to one and a half years in jail for the attack against a juvenile.

In court Friday, Jensen scheduled an official sentencing hearing for Nov. 1.

According to the indictment, this crime occurred in 2010.

A call to the home was not immediately returned by deadline Friday.
