Times-Tribune Staff Report
A suspicious vehicle report led to the arrest of a London man Thursday, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Charlie Helton Jr., 56, was arrested after Deputy Kevin Berry, along with Deputy Shane Rice, responded to the call about 8 a.m. about two and a half miles north of London.
When deputies arrived, they found Helton sitting in a red pickup that was stuck in a yard. The homeowners told deputies no one was supposed to be at the home.
Root said Helton was determined to be under the influence, so he was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
Helton was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center. While he was being booked into the jail, Deputy Jailer Ricky Woods found a small bag of what is believed to be methamphetamine and a rolled dollar bill that had white powder on it.
Berry charged Helton with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession od drug paraphernalia and first-degree promoting contraband.
Offense(Methamphetamine); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Promoting Contraband 1st Degree.
